~clean closet, good cause, clean city~
If you live in New York, you probably received or about to receive a postcard like this one.

According to the Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse & Recycling (NYC Department of Sanitation), annually NYC residents throw away approximately 200,000 tons of clothes, towels, blankets, curtains, shoes, handbags, belts, and other textiles and apparel!
The city had to find a way to make it easier and convenient for people to donate instead of tossing away. And the re-fashionNYC Bin were born, through a partnership between The City of New York and Housing Works.
The program is provided to any participating building of 10 units or more with convenient donation services at no cost to the building or taxpayers.
Check out the site for How The Program Works and any other questions.
Question: What items can be deposited into the re-fashioNYC donation bins?
Answer: Wr encourage donations of any clean fabric or material, including clothing, towels, linens, curtains, or clean rags; as well as shoes and accessories such as belts and handbags.
I am sure some treasures will be discovered in the giving process as well!
Do you have any similar program to your city/ state? I think it is a great idea and help for all those who do not have any other way of donating/ sharing their clothing.
